Brandon Gary, surfer behind the scenes, makes sure our members and customers receive WOW customer experiences with our laid-back Woodie’s vibe!
Before Woodie’s, Brandon was a Location Manager for Rich’s Car Wash on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and is the former President of his family business, Cable Marketing and Installation, Inc. During his 10 years of experience as President, Brandon was responsible for full operations as he led a team of 125 employees, while coordinating new bids, managing contracts, assisting with human resource administration, and establishing satellite office locations.
Brandon caught a wave to Tampa from Biloxi, Mississippi along with his wife, Cadi and three children, Anniston, Weston, and Stella. In his spare time, Brandon digs spending boating, and cheering on the New Orleans Saints and LSU Tigers.
Business Relationship Manager
John Johnson, better known as “Coach J” at Woodie’s, is an England native and surfed his way to the U.S. where he earned a basketball scholarship to the University of Michigan.
After more than a decade playing professional basketball, Coach J moved to the Tampa Bay area and established his organization named Project Uplift Tampa which caters to at-risk youth in the community. Through Project Uplift Tampa, he was a Wellness teacher and coached volleyball and basketball for 13 years.
We are stoked to have Coach J on the team! When Coach isn’t visiting the wash shacks, he finds leisure in reading on the beach, playing tennis, and playing basketball (of course!)
“Dean of Students”
As “Dean of Students” for Woodies University, Dan joins Woodies Wash Shack after surfing for 30+ years in the Hillsborough County School District as a Teacher, Assistant Principal, and the last 10 years as a Principal.
He brings an extensive background in growing and developing teachers and staff through professional development and growth plans, training, and the observation/feedback models. He holds degrees in Education and Educational Leadership from the University of Michigan and USF.
When he’s not riding the Woody’s wave, he likes to attend concerts, festivals, Tampa Bay sports games, and spending time with his daughter, Marley and his dog, LouLou.
Business Dev Center Rep.
Madison surfed her way into Woodie’s from Fredonia, New York where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and minor in English from SUNY Fredonia.
As a prior server, bartender, and daycare assistant, Madison is well versed in the art of communicating with customers. As a Business Development Center Representative, this makes her a perfect fit!
She is in charge of monitoring and responding to customer reviews, inquiries, and helps direct issues to progressive solutions.
During her free time, Madison enjoys hiking, boating, and watching football (especially the Super Bowl-bound Buffalo Bills!)
The “Jake of all Trades” has been surfin’ with the Woodie’s crew since late 2019 and keeps on making waves!
He holds a BSBA in Real Estate from the University of Central Florida and obtained his real estate license at 19. Prior to Woodie’s, he gained real estate-related, business experience from Barger Real Estate and Belleair Development.
In his spare time, Jake enjoys golfing, boating, and spending time with his Wife, Claire and dog, Asher
Business Development Manager
Melissa joins Woodie’s Wash Shack from the Observer News. Before the Observer, Melissa was the CMO of Payant Wealth Management Group and Mathhew Lytell & Associates Northwestern Mutual.
She brings her knowledge in business development and expertise in cultivating community relationships to our growing team.
When she’s not in office, you can find Melissa surfing around the town at local networking and community events, spending time with her dog, Legend, or in the riding arena with her horse, Pride.
Marketing & Event Coord.
Avery is a local surfer born and raised in the Tampa Bay area Where he’s been invovled in a multitude of community events and planning.
After obtaining his BA degree in Business Management & Entrepreneurialism from Hillsborough Community College, Avery worked as an Account Manager for Calusa Marketing, a local digital incentive marketing firm in St. Pete.
When he isn’t making waves at an outreach event, you can find him hanging ten on the golf course, or paddle boarding around South Florida’s intercoastal sandbars.
Director of Development
Phil has a long track record of excellence, beginning with his formal education at Auburn University as a Building Science major.
With over three decades of experience developing and constructing institutional, commercial, multi-family, and mixed-use projects, Phil is certainly familiar with creating some waves!
Phil has been involved with such notable projects as the Hard Rock Casino and the mixed-use Mosaic Hi-rise project in Houston Texas.
His wisdom and expertise in guiding the construction and development program, for the many Wash Shack’s to be built, will result in efficiency and quality uncommon to the car wash business. War Eagle!
Partner & VP of Acquisitions
AKA “The Wave Hunter,” Glen’s tubular task is to scope out new locations that are perfect for a Woodie’s Wash Shack addition.
Glen has been in the real estate industry for over 25 years, he has developed and built new developments consisting of single-family and Multi-Family homes. He is an expert in the Southeast real estate market, with in-depth local market knowledge and long cultivated relationships.
His areas of expertise include residential and commercial developments, site selection, entitlements, feasibility and due diligence , market analysis, builder selection, contract negotiation, financing, value engineering and project oversight.
Glen enjoys spending time on St. Pete Beach and fishing on his boat.
Senior construction Advisor
As a 5th generation Florida native, Sid is a veteran when it comes to sun, fun, & surf! Sid graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Building Construction in 1981.
He worked at Enterprise Building Company and Brown & Root until 1993 as Vice President of Operations and later transitioned to work for Clark Building Group from 1993 until 2020 as the CEO/President of the Northern and Southern Regions. Sid’s expertise and prior experience in development and construction has been critical in Woodie’s Wash Shack’s rapid expansion plan.
Sid holds a General Contractor’s license in FL, GA, TN, NC, SC, and AL. Sid enjoys fishing, golfing, skiing, and spending time with his 5 grandchildren.
Pre Construction Manager
A recent addition to the Development team, Thomas (TC) Nales is no stranger to all things development. His experience ranges from car washes to multi-family projects to hotels. Some of TC’s projects include a $600 million design-build with the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority and redevelopment with Hyde Park Village.
Prior to Woodie’s, TC’s construction & development experience includes projects accross a multitude of sectors – Hotels, Storage, Car Washes, Multi-Family, Gas Stations, Office, QSR, Schools, and medical facilities to name a few!
TC enjoys traveling and exploring the many Florida beaches!
Carter Thompson joined the Woodie’s crew after 22 years of experience as a professional director and urban planner. She is well versed in entitlements, city planning, land development, governmental relations, lobbying, permitting, private & public land use.
Carter holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Studies Planning & Economic Development from Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University and also an MBA from Brenau University.
When Carter isn’t helping to build more wash shacks, she is chasing the next thrill as an adrenaline junkie – she currently has her eyes on Machu Picchu’s summit!
Jake is a strategic Project Manager who thrives in dynamic, growth-focused work environments with experience maintaining and growing successful relationships with ownership, general contractors, structural engineers, architects, etc.
Prior to joining Woodie’s, Jake was a Project Manager for M.C. Velar Constructions Corporation where he managed projects varying in size from 100k – 1.5m SF. Jake’s field expertise ensures that the rigorous specifications Woodie’s has set forth are being adhered to and that our contractors and suppliers are on schedule, on budget, and building our Wash Shacks in a way that creates the least disturbance to our neighbors.
Jake enjoys spending time with his Fiancée Sarah and two golden retrievers Chase and Macy.
Document Control Manager
Jimmy is a Florida native with roots in the Ft. Lauderdale area. He’s been in the Commercial Construction industry for over 35 years with experience in the Ft. Lauderdale and Tampa markets.
Jimmy joins the Woodie’s corporate team as our Document Control Manager facilitating various contracts and task orders for our Development department.
Outside the Corp Shack, you can catch Jimmy grilling and spending time with family and friends, hiking through national parks with his wife, and cruising on by in his classic Chevy ride.
Finance & Accounting
Matthew comes to Woodie’s Wash Shack with a wave of knowledge in the accounting field, having previous experience working with P&L’s, reconciliations, capital expenditure budgets, managing fixed assets, and various other financial reporting.
Prior to joining Woodie’s, Matt was a senior accountant at Carlton Fields PA and Hooter’s Management Corporation.
Matt is a licensed CPA in the state of FL and holds a BSBA in Accounting from the University of West Florida.
Outside of the accounting office at the “corp–shack,” you can find Matt teeing up at the golf course, shooting hoops, or exploring new crafts at local breweries in Tampa Bay.
Senior Corporate Accountant
Jacob came from CliftonLarsonAllen, LLP (CLA), a top 10 public accounting firm in the United States. At CLA, he was a Senior Tax Associate assisting multimillion dollar clients with various complex financial decisions and managed associates on these engagements.
Jacob obtained with Bachelor’s Degree in both Accounting and Finance from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse. After college, Jacob also obtained his CPA license.
With his free time, Jacob loves travelling, boating, working out, and target shooting.
Manager of FP&A
Prior to Woodie’s, Kristie worked in Finance as a Third-Party Administrator since 2017, where she was involved in all aspects of forecasting, budgeting, pricing, and client profitability.
During Kristie’s time in Investment Banking at Raymond Jame’s RE division, she worked on all forms of valuation, due diligence, underwriting and other support for all related transactions in both the public and private capital markets as well as M&A transactions.
Kristie graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. She resides in Tampa with her husband Sean and their two young children, Maya and Lucas. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends while taking advantage of all the beautiful scenery and fun events Tampa has to offer.
Nadia is a recent graduate of the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Accounting degree.
Here at Woodie’s, she handles accounting reports, processing budgets and commitments for our current development sites. Nadia also manages daily Work-In-Process reports for future Woodie’s sites.
Prior to joining the crew, Nadia was a sales associate for Brooks Brothers and had an accounting internship with Angela Witthold, CPA.
In her free time, you can catch Nadia playing video games, reading books, and costume making for popular cosplay conventions.
Laurie joins the Woodie’s crew and Florida coastlines from Las Vegas, Nevada. Her expertise in the accounting industry exceeds 15 years with experience in accounts payable, vendor relations, and evaluating financial data.
Before surfing over to Woodie’s, Laurie was a staff accountant for The Huntington Group and VTN Consulting where she was primarily responsible for organized, accurate bookkeeping and managed corporate relationships with their vendors.
In her free time, Laurie loves to spend time with her two totally awesome kiddos, reading the latest novels, and rocking out at concerts.
